Grow your YouTube Channel, pt 2

So now that you’ve read “Grow Your YouTube Channel, pt 1,” you know what your channel will be about, you have several channel ideas planned, you’ve written your scripts and started finding your voice. Now you can make a video and go viral, right? Maybe not yet, but you’re well on your way. Now that you have a few ideas, you have to get those ideas onto YouTube and to do that, you might need a few tools.

Tools??!

Don’t let it freak you out – it’s really not that bad. This is where a lot of neophyte creators get antsy and where many decide they don’t even want to begin. They look at their favorite YouTubers and they see lavish gaming chairs, an expensive camera, a PC that glows in the dark, does everything and has enough power to run a tiny country and amazing edits done with premium editing software. This tends to intimidate new creators – they think that they need the same equipment inorder to get views and that is simply not true. EVERYBODY has a phone. I am not exaggerating when I say that I know homeless people who have phones. Everybody has one. That is the single device you need to launch a channel.

Camera
When you are beginning, you don’t need a fancy schmancy camera – use the one on your phone. your fans understand. And unless you have a film or photography based channel, they probably don’t care, anyway.

Editing Software
If you are recording with your phone, you can also edit from your phone. Android has several recording apps and ios has a few as well. All you need to do is search. Download a few an try them out. Everyone has different preferences, so what works well for others may not work well for you.

Desk & Chair
You don’t need a particular desk or an extravagant chair. Heck, you don’t need them at all. You can stand in the middle of your living room if you want to. If you are depending on your chair and desk to get views for you, then you may want to rethink some things.

Screen Recorder
If you have a gaming channel, you will need a way to record your screen. As with editing software, there is a lot out there, so try out several and see which you like best.

So, now that the excuses have been thrown out, you are the only thing preventing you from beginning a channel. You know which tools you need. Now it’s time to get busy. Don’t be your own roadblock – go create something so you can grow your YouTube Channel!
