Should you blog on LinkedIn?
If you are a business professional, you are probably on LinkedIn. Even if you don’t frequent it, you at least have a profile. Over the years, LinkedIn has morphed from being a resume profile type website to a full fledged social media platform. One of the social features offered is the ability to create posts and publish articles. But are there any real advantages to it? Should you blog on LinkedIn?
To Blog or Not to Blog?
There are many benefits to having a blog. For some, having a blog and running ads is a means of financial freedom. For others, it is a way to showcase expertise on a particular topic. It can go hand in hand with your businesses website, giving you credibility and authority in your field. For those who blog for money, it may almost seem counter productive to publish articles on a blog other than your own, as you want that traffic on your blog, but it is actually very productive.
having a blog on LinkedIn is great for multiple reasons. For starters, organic reach on LinkedIn is awesome, meaning that your posts can be easily viewed my many people. LinkedIn has over 500 million users, and publishing on the platform is free. That alone makes it worthwhile. LinkedIn users tend to be share friendly also, so if they enjoy your article, there is a good chance that they will share it, which extends your reach even further.
Pulse is a Plus
Another great LinkedIn feature is Pulse. Pulse is basically the platform’s equivalent of the Instagram explore page. An article featured on the pulse page will have a huge audience, which has obvious benefits your blog site.
You don’t have to do anything special to get featured in pulse. One simply has to write quality, attention grabbing articles. LinkedIn actually has a team of editors who review all articles and decide whether or not they are pulse worthy.
Connections are Key
Remember, LinkedIn is all about business. If you are trying to build your brand, raise awareness and make strong connections with other business minds, this is the platform to utilize. The possibilities here are many. You may make connections with a business who features your posts on their website as a guest blogger. You may find businesses willing to hire you to blog for them. Even if they are simply sharing your content, your reach is extended. As the name implies, LinkedIn is great for networking.
There are definitely more pros than cons to blogging on LinkedIn. Create quality content consistently, and you may find that this platform will help your blog grow and thrive.
