TikTok for Business??! Should you Use it?
It’s no secret that TikTok has become one of the most downloaded apps on the internet. But with all of the dance challenges and the fact that the user base is mainly children, is using TikTok for business a viable option?
Why You Should Consider it
Though TikTok is insanely popular (and addictive) it is still in it’s infant stage. There are not many business using the platform at this point, so there aren’t a lot of influencers, advertising is cheap and unlike other platforms, it isn’t over saturated. This all translates to less competition for your business on your platform, which is a great place to be. Currently, TikTok offers four advertising options.
Advertising Options
In feed native content works in the same manner as Instagram story ads. These ads are full screen, limited to 9-15 seconds in length and can be skipped. Infeed campaigns can be measured via impressions, click-through rate (CTR), engagements and video views.
Branded Lenses encourage engagement. These are 2d and 3d filters, objects and stickers which can be used in videos. Potential here is huge – everyone uses filters. Imagine having filters with your brand name next to them!
Brand takeovers are just as the name implies – a brand taking over the platform for a day. Full screen ads are shown to users from the moment of login.
Hashtag takeovers are a fun way for brands to advertise. The business creates a hashtag challenge, typically a lyric or dance challenge for users to perform. There is a prize for the winner. Hashtag challenges are huge on TikTok, so they are an excellent way to drive engagement.
The advertising options seem to be fun and engaging, which embodies the spirit of the platform. Brands who can embrace the lighter side of social media can perform quite well on TikTok. The NBA has over 5 million followers. Guess has 41,000. Several other brands are coming to the platform as well. The key is to show the lighter side of the business. Be serious on the other platforms. Using TikTok for business allows you to play and still promote your brand.
